Ku-ring-gai council has a strong history of council and community commitment to integrating sustainability into council.
UP&UP Creative worked with Ku-ring-gai council to develop the branding and logo design for their new sustainable sub-brand. This brand needed to appeal to multiple stakeholders and act as an ‘umbrella/parent’ brand where all their existing sustainable projects and community run initiatives could be part of a framework to help channel the communities interest in Sustainability in Ku-ring-gai.
UP&UP presented many brand directions to a working group that engaged community feedback.
The result, Loving, Living, Ku-ring-gai uses the shape of gum leaves to pay homage to our natural flora of Australia as well as utilises a colour palette that also reflects this. The logo is striking in it’s simplicity and utilises the tagline ‘Sustaining Sydney’s green heart’ which works back in with the Ku-ring-gai tagline of “Sydney’s Green Heart”
The logo needed to work across a range of collateral, both as a stand alone entity and work alongside the existing Ku-ring-gai logo.
Spearheaded by the Sustainability team and with feedback from community, ‘ Loving, Living, Ku-ring-gai ’ encapsulated how the community and council felt about its unique and magnificent environment.
After much research and auditing the councils existing brand we delved a mark that worked in with existing culture and complimented the existing Council logo.
The project included:
- Collaboration & Sustainable thinking
- Brand Strategy
- Service design
- Creative design
- Campaign Development
- Facilitation and management.
After a 6 month engagement process. We are pleased to announce the new council sustainability brand was launched by Indira Naidoo on Tuesday 19 February at the Secret Garden in Gordon Library.
The brand will be rolled our on council and community sustainability initiatives over the next year.
This project was achieved in three stages, the brand strategy, naming process and the creative development of the logo and brand.
