Food waste within the City of Yarra represents approximately 52.6% of total rubbish volume. This community driven program aims to divert 208.7 tonnes of food waste over an 18 month period by co-developing a “leading edge” food waste composting program.
The brand also needed to fit as hybrid of the two parent brands as well as working effectively next to the Cultivating Community and Yarra City Council visual identities. The name was tested with a strong weighting for the ‘Food Know How’ name.
Monique McNamara led the strategy and brand development, which resulted in brand positioning, developing a new name and creating a new visual identity for the program.

The project was launched with great success within the City of Yarra, so much so that two other Municipalities across Melbourne have also chosen to come on board, thus achieving the aim of creating a ‘scalable’ model for food waste reduction.
